On the Team-Based Goal-Oriented Development for Holonic Manufacturing Systems

This contribution makes a reconsideration of the holonic organizational concept based on analogies with team formation and execution. It presents the team modelling concepts that support holonic structure and behaviour and the development of multi-agent framework based on the aggregation of agents in teams. Some drawbacks of the classical BDI reasoning mechanism and enhancement solutions are identified. In order to offer a practical argument of this perspective, a basic holonic control scenario was implemented using the GORITE team-based framework. It was adopted a goal-based top down development strategy for the execution model. The agent BDI reasoning and execution engine of framework was used to offer an improved solution to sensorial integration for holonic manufacturing systems.
